The Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarship Programs offers assistance to Colorado State University undergraduate students in applying for nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships. This website has descriptions for many national competitive scholarships.
These scholarships have minimum requirements, including grade point average, specific discipline, degree program, career goals, and extracurricular activities. Some are available to undergraduate students, while some provide funding for graduating students planning to attend graduate school. It is important to research the requirements for any of the scholarships you are interested in pursuing. Interested applicants are encouraged to review the scholarship requirements via the Web and to work with Heather Esterday, Coordinator for Nationally Competitive Scholarship Programs, in preparing a strong application.
We recommend you begin preparing your responses to the essay questions at least four months prior to the application deadline so that you have plenty of time to work with faculty and staff members on revising and perfecting them. The required essays are a critical component of the application process and are closely reviewed by the selection committees. The Coordinator is available to assist you in brainstorming ideas for your essays, as well as providing feedback and revision suggestions.
In addition, some scholarships require you to be nominated by the institution. Please contact the office for more information about the nomination process.
